As an avid follower of Formula One for as
long as I care to remember (Auto sport Subscriber since the 60's), I
started building F1 model kits with a Riko Ferrari from 1965 and was
fortunate enough to be around in the heyday of the 1/12 Tamiya kits in the
70's. Without ever making a conscious decision, I found myself drawn to
models of any F1 car that became available which has led to a couple of
duplications when bigger or better kits appeared. Resolved with the
auspices of airfxcollector.co.uk. |

Then came along
Family and other interests including playing cricket and R/C model
warships have limited building time over the years. The 40 or so models
built represent just under half of the collection with subjects ranging
from Arrows to Zakspeed from kit manufacturers from Gunze Sangyo,
Hasegawa, Heller, Matchbox, Nitto, Protar, Revell, Riko and Tamiya. |
| Out
of the 40 or so kits I still have to build are some lesser known producers
of F1 like Academy. Over the years it has become easier to produce
acceptable results as technology has improved mould making techniques and
materials although on the other hand the complexities of modern F1 Cars
(Barge Boards, Multi Element Rear Wings etc) can provide a challenge to
the kit designer. Who can incorporate details that test the eyesight as
well as the skill of any modeler. |

I
look forward to making more finds and ultimately to seeing my remaining
collection filling display cabinets not the loft. If
anyone has a M23 1/20 For sale please let me know! |
